A commercial lawyer from 1976 to 2010 (with a Masters of Global Business Law), Malcolm has, since the mid-1980's, specialised in the fields of industry participation and global trade and development. In Australia, this has grown into a unique expertise in all aspects of defence and civil government contracting requirements.
He has extensive experience in Australia in managing and directing successful tenderers in their preparation of AII and AIC plans. He is regularly a key member of bid teams and has unrivalled bid and proposal knowledge. He works extensively in the Australian and also global markets, and has handled deals in many other parts of the world.
He is a past member of the Australian Government-sponsored Defence Exporters Council, past President of the Australian Countertrade Association, and past Councillor of the Asia Pacific Countertrade Association, as well as a regular speaker at conferences around the world.
Malcolm is a non-practitioner Director of the Melbourne based law firm, White Cleland, which has a niche practice in intellectual property dealings for defence companies. He is a non-executive Director of numerous other companies, many of which operate in international markets.
